Williamtown Military base more commonly known as Newcastle Airport is located 30 minutes from Newcastle CBD. Newcastle airport operates one runway 12/30. Runway 12 is an ils where as 30 is a visual approach but the best for taking photo's as the aircraft land over the road.

==Official Spotting Locations==

===Medowie Road Car Park===
This is the offical spotting location at Williamtown. There is plenty of parking to accomodate 100+ cars and a couple of chairs to sit on which face towards runway 30. This spot is great for visual landings on 30 or take offs from 12 most of the time the wind favours runway 30 so you get a lot of visuals. The sand dunes out to the east makes for a great back drop when spotting at this location and at sunset the runway lights make for a fantastic picture.

A good focal length for this spot is 50 to 300mm but 50mm is good for directly overehad photos. The best place to photograph from is directly under the flight path. You could mover further up towards fighter world for angled photos & side on photos.

Sample Photos from Medowie Road Car Park:
{{anetlink|1019546}}
{{anetlink|1019547}}

==Other Spotting Locations==

===Fighter World===
This is a great place for taking pictures of landings on runway 30. The viewing deck faces the 30 threshold and the designated touchdown zone is clearly visible. The recommended focal length for this location is 100 to 400mm although 200 is a good maximum. The best time for photos here is during the afternoon when the light is best but throughout the day there is good lighting.

Entry to Fighter World is $5 for children and $10 for adults so this is not the best option for approach photos but definately your best bet for landings on 30.

===Bae Hanger===
The Bae hanger is located on the runway 12 side of the airport and looks over the helicopter pads. This is a great location for taking pictures of departing helicopters due to the fact that you are only 12 feet from the pads. Be aware that you may need a step ladder for looking over the barb wire fence and that you may be moved on by security.

==Locations to Avoid==
===The Terminal===
There is a fence running along the apron right next to the terminal and although this is a great place for taking pictures of aircraft up close you will probably be told me move on by security.

==Official Spotting Locations==

===Medowie Road Car Park===

==Other Spotting Locations==

===Fighter World===
This is a great place for taking pictures of landings on runway 30.

===Bae Hanger===

===The Terminal===
There is a fence running along the apron right next to the terminal and although this is a great place for taking pictures of aircraft up close you will probably be told me move on by security.
===Apron Fence===
There is a fence around 100 metres long right next to the apron infront of the terminal. This is a great place for taking pictures off aicraft landing on runway 05 & 08. Also great for departures from 23.

===Anambah Road===
This is a great place for taking photos of arriving aircraft on runway 23 and departures from 05. The easiest way to get there is head into town from the airport and at the first roudabotu turn left into Anambah Road drive for about a kilometre and you will see runway 23 on your left.
==Official Spotting Locations==

===Medowie Road Car Park===

==Other Spotting Locations==

===Fighter World===
This is a great place for taking pictures of landings on runway 30. The viewing deck faces the 30 threshold and the designated touchdown zone is clearly visible. The recommended focal length for this location is 100 to 400mm although 200 is a good maximum. The best time for photos here is during the afternoon when the light is best but throughout the day there is good lighting.

Be aware that entry to Fighter World is $5 for children and $10 for adults so this is not the best option for approach photos but definately your best bet for landings on 30.

===Bae Hanger===
The Bae hanger is located on the runway 12 side of the airport and looks over the helicopter pads. This is a great location for taking picture of departing helicopters due to the fact that you are only 12 feet from the pads. Be aware that you may need a step ladder for looking over the barb wire fence and that you may be moved on by security.

Sample Photos from the Bae Hanger:
===The Terminal===
There is a fence running along the apron right next to the terminal and although this is a great place for taking pictures of aircraft up close you will probably be told me move on by security.

Sample Photos from The Terminal:
{{anetlink|0999582}}
Virgin Blue operate the 737-700 & 737-800 into Newcastle.
Pacific Blue also makes the odd appearance.
===Brindabella===
Brindabella operates the Metro 23 into Newcastle.
===Aero Pelican===
Aero Pelican is based in Newcastle and operate the Jetream 32 & BAE 110
===Norfolk Air===
Brisbane Airport is located in the Brisbane suburb of Brisbane Airport, Queensland, Australia. The airport is managed by Brisbane Airport Corporation Limited (BAC) and the current CEO is Koen Rooijmans. It is the third busiest airport in Australia after Sydney and Melbourne airports.

Brisbane Airport has an international terminal, a domestic terminal and a cargo terminal. Both of the passenger terminals have a number of shops and cafeterias.

The airport was awarded the IATA Eagle Award in 2005, the second of only two Australian airports to receive such award. Brisbane's $400 million parallel runway project is close to a reality after a dramatic rise in passenger numbers over the last 3 years.

Brisbane, along with Sydney Airport, Melbourne Airport and Perth Airport, are having terminal modifications to accommodate the new Airbus A380, The A380 first arrived at Brisbane on November 14, 2005.

Brisbane Airport is accessible by road from Brisbane's Gateway Motorway and from the city, and by rail using the Airtrain service that is linked to the Citytrain network. A new Airport Link motorway is planned to connect the Brisbane CBD and airport.

On 18 September 2007, the federal government granted approval for the construction of a new runway at Brisbane airport. The $1 billion new runway will take approximately eight years to construct and will generate about 2,700 jobs. The 3,600-metre runway will operate parallel to the existing main runway at the Brisbane Airport.
==Official Spotting Locations==

===Medowie Road Car Park===
This is the offical spotting location at Williamtown. There is plenty of parking to accomodate 100+ cars and a couple of chairs to sit on which face towards 30. This spot is great for visual landings on 30 or take offs from 12 most of the time the wind favours runway 30 so you get a lot of visuals. The sand dunes out to the east makes for a great back drop when spotting at this location and at sunset the runway lights make for a fantastic picture.

A good focal length for this spot is 50 to 300mm but 50mm is good for directly overehad photo's. The best place to photograph from is directly under the flight path. You could mover further up towards fighter world for angled photo's & side on photo's.

Sample Photos from Medowie Road Car Park:
{{anetlink|1019546}}
{{anetlink|1019547}}

===Fighter World===
This is a great place for taking pictures of landings on 30. The viewing deck faces the 30 threshold and the designated touchdown zone is clearly visable. The recommended focal length for this location is 100 to 400mm althought 200 is a good maximum. The best time for photo's here is during the afternoon when the light is best but throughout the day there is good lighting.

Be aware that entry to fighter world is $5 for children and $10 for adults so this is not the best option for approach photo's but definately your best bet for landings on 30.

===Bae Hanger===

===Brindabella===
Brindabella operates the Metro 23 into Newcastle.
===Aero Pelican===
Aero Pelican is based in Newcastle and operate the Jetream 32 & BAE 110
==Official Spotting Locations==

===Medowie Road Car Park===

===Fighter World===
This is a great place for taking pictures of landings on 30.

===Bae Hanger===
==Official Spotting Locations==

===Medowie Road Car Park===

===Fighter World===
This is a great place for taking pictures of landings on 30.

==Other Spotting Locations==
===Location===

==Locations to Avoid==

===The Terminal===
There is a fence running along the apron right next to the terminal and although this is a great place for taking pictures of aircraft up close you will probably be told me move on by security.

==Regular Traffic==

===Jetstar===
Jetstar operate the A320 into Newcastle
===Virgin Blue===
Virgin Blue operate the 737-700 & 737-800 into Newcastle.
Pacific Blue also makes the odd appearance.
===Brindabella===
Brindabella operates the Metro 23 into Newcastle.
===Aero Pelican===
Aero Pelican is based in Newcastle and operate the Jetream 32 & BAE 110
===Norfolk Air===
Norfolk Air operate the 737-200 into Newcastle but this route is usually served by Ozjet.
==Official Spotting Locations==

===Medowie Road Car Park===
This is the only offical spotting location at Williamtown. There is plenty of parking to accomodate 100+ cars a couple of chairs to sit on looking down Runway 30. This spot is great for visual landings on 30 or take of from 12. The sand dunes out to the east makes for a great back drop when spotting at this location. At sunset the runway lights make for a fantastic picture.

==Other Spotting Locations==
Fighter World has a viewing deck with live ATC feeds but there is an entry fee of $5. Fighter world is on Medowie Road and overlooks the 30 threshold.
===Location===

==Locations to Avoid==
Spotting from the terminal is great because it over looks the apron but you may be moved on by security.
