Menorca Airport is the unique airport of the Balearic Island Menorca which is the smallest island of the Balearic Islands located in the Mediterranean Sea. The airport is located 4,5 km southwest of Mahón which is the capital of the island.
In 1969, Menorca Airport opened and replaced the airfield San Luis, which is only around 4 km east.

===Runway 01===
If the winds are in favor of the '''Runway 01''' being used, which is the case most of the times, there are two spots where you can take really good photos of the approaching and departing aircrafts. Since both spots bring you pretty close to the action you won't be needing a lot of focal length to get good results. 200mm will be enough to cover the aircrafts coming in or departing on Runway 01.
On both spots you have to climb on a stone wall to have a look over the fence.

====Spot 1: Morning till midday====
In the morning, when the sun is still shining from east or southeast, you should be on the east side of the runway (Spot 1; Coordinates: 39.851341, 4.219692).
To get to this spot from the terminal you will have to drive in the direction of Sant Climent. Read the description below at spot 2.

====Spot 2: Midday till afternoon====
When the sun is shining from southwest or west, you should be on the west side of the runway (Spot 2). Coordinates: 39.853096, 4.213262

To get to this spot, you have to drive via ''Carretera de Sant Climent/Me-14'' from the airport to the roundabout with a small pyramid. Take the third exit (left) and follow the ''Me-12''. After 2,2km turn left into ''Carretera de Binidalí'' and follow the road. Turn right after 1,4km in a small road (''Camí de Biniparratx Petit''). After around 1,4km you reach spot 2. It is on the left side in the right-hander. You can park at the side of the road.
To get to spot 1, turn right and follow the road another 1,4km. Spot 1 is on the left side in a right-hander. You can park in front of the gate.

Since the airport is mainly used for tourist flights, many charter flights take place in the summer months. Over the winter months, significantly fewer flights take place.
