	The island of Sylt is the most prestigious island in Germany's part of the North Sea and has a lot of private houses used for vacations. As the island is not linked to the mainland by a bridge or a ferry, all cars go onto a train via a causeway. Traffic mainly caters for leisure purposes, i.e. people visiting the island for vacation; traffic figures and destinations vary per season, but destinations mainly are limited to the more populous areas in Germany and the airlines` hubs.
Do not get fooled by the many destinations shown on the airports website ! Most of these destinations will require a connection at some hub !

Traffic in peak season has B737/A319 as the largest aircraft (from AB and X3), while Lufthansa flies their regional jets to GWT. AB-affiliate LGW flew their Dornier D228 to GWT during summer 2008. Some even smaller props are employed to fly the local equivilent to "Essential Air Service" mainly to Hamburg and/or Uetersen.
