Cork Airport is one of the three main international airports in the Republic of Ireland (Dublin and Shannon are the other two). It is located about 8km south of Cork City in an area called Ballygarvan. A number of Irish, British and European destinations are served from Cork Airport. In 2007, Cork Airport handled 3.2 million passengers, making it the third busiest airport in the Republic of Ireland in terms of passenger numbers. Aer Arann and Ryanair have a large presence at the airport along with Aer Lingus, who have got four aircraft at based the airport making it an important European hub.
