Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (IATA: ATL, ICAO: KATL) is located seven miles (11 km) south of downtown Atlanta, Georgia, United States. It is the world's busiest airport by passenger traffic and takeoffs and landings. Delta Air Lines operates the world's largest airline hub from the airport. AirTran Airways also operates its largest hub at the airport. The airport has five parallel runways (8L/26R, 8R/26L, 9L/27R, 9R/27L, 10/28) and 180 gates spread across six concourses (T, A, B, C, D, and E respectively); a seventh gate complex, Concourse F, is currently under construction.

Old Dixie Highway

There are numerous places to park an automobile along Old Dixie Highway, located on the east side of the airfield. This spot is perfect when departures/arrivals are utilizing runways 26L, 26R, 27L, 27R, and 28.

North Terminal Parking

The North parking deck and adjacent lot are great for shooting arriving and departing flights utilizing the north runways (8L/26R, 8R/26L). Spotters are encouraged to contact the City of Atlanta's Department of Aviation requesting a photography permission slip (see explanation below). Parking Facilities Diagram

South Terminal Parking

The South parking deck and adjacent lot are great for shooting arriving and departing flights utilizing the south runways (9L/27R, 9R/27L, and, to an extent 10/28). Delta Technical Operations Center

This location is access-controlled and limited to Delta Air Lines employees and airport staff. The two TechOps parking garages provide excellent views of the north side of the airfield and runways 8L/26R and 8R/26L. Numerous aviation photographers on web sites such as Airliners.net and JetPhotos.net frequent this location.
