If you take a right at the cross roads by Lios Cross spotting area, that road goes down the side of the runway and there is a number of gates along this road to pull in and see views of aircraft taking off and landing. Airport Police are usually ok with this, however the Gardaí do move cars on. There is also a pull in just a little past the end of runway 16, after you turn the bend on the road just after going under the approach lights. This is only good for Runway 16 arrivals however, too far back from threshold to take photos of aircraft taxiing out to take off on this runway. | |||
In the airport itself there's a few places to spot. The roof floor of the short term multi story car park has great views of the north apron and aircraft taxiing to take off on runway 16 and landing on runway 16. Only downside to this spot is, you have to pay, it's €3.00 per hour. | |||
If you pass the multi story car park entrance and exit and head towards the cargo area just before you turn the bend to go down towards to cargo warehouses, there's a fence next to Sixt Car rental's depot. However, park in the car rental pick up parking area if there's a space, do not park on the road as it is double yellow lines and Airport Police are strict on this, as this road is also the main emergency access route to the apron and airfield. | |||
Take a left at the next roundabout immediately after the business park entrance roundabout, follow the road down past the old terminal, you will see the fence looking over stands 6 & 7 by the green passenger tunnels, this is spot is good for taking photos of aircraft parked on these stands or taxiing past. Use discretion here as there is no where to park, except next to the grass verge by the fence, Airport Police may move you on, as this is the entrance for terminal deliveries, but there are usually ok at weekends when there isn't many deliveries. | |||
